If your child adores dinosaurs, you may want to consider throwing a dinosaur themed party. This is a popular birthday party theme and you can find a wide variety of dinosaur themed party decorations available for purchase. You can even use your child’s stuffed dinosaurs as part of the decorations. Here are some further party ideas for a dinosaur theme:
Dinosaur themed party cake
You can find a variety of great cake ideas and photos for a dinosaur themed party online. Some of these ideas may take a little effort and creativity, while others are very simple. You can purchase a pre-made dinosaur cake, give design ideas to a local baker, or make your own. Plastic dinosaur toys can make great cake toppers, just add some green frosting to go along with it. You can even surround the dinosaur with an assortment of chocolate “dinosaur eggs”, so the kids have an extra treat to go with their slice of cake. The cake can even be made in the shape of the birthday kid’s favorite dinosaur.
Dinosaur themed food
As with the cake, you can keep the dinosaur theme going with the other food that you serve. Fossil cookies look awesome and are easy to make, simply make normal vanilla cookies and use a dinosaur toy to imprint a fossil onto the cookie before baking. You can also try making prehistoric volcano muffins, start by adding some green food coloring to chocolate muffins, then shape into mounds and place red icing to look like lava flowing down the sides.
Dinosaur themed games
A dinosaur theme lends itself to some great choices for party games. One of the most popular games at a dinosaur theme party is a dinosaur egg hunt, simply paint some polka dots on eggs and hide them in the yard. Be sure that you have enough eggs so that each kid can find one or two each. You can even hide some “fossils” along with the eggs to add to the scavenger hunt fun. Other favorites for this theme include pin the tail on the dinosaur and stomp and roar like a dinosaur (this game is played like musical chairs, only the kids stomp and roar like a dino instead of dance in a circle).
